Puente la Reina: learn to accept

I dive every day more on this adventure. It 's a thrill continues the wonderful stars that light the path, the dawns that every day with my first steps, through the places, people I meet. all combine to make this one my Camino de Santiago. I say "my" because I realize how every day, slowly, I take from this experience and deep desire to say something to my life and make it a unique experience for me. I understand that I must try to accept everything that the Way I will reserve : tiredness, happiness, dating, difficulty, scenery, fatigue, happiness, hunger, thirst, ... because I agreed to do so. Because I've got time, I've placed at the center of my heart for this month, the experience of Santiago. No other interests that can distract from the goal.

In the many hours of walking I have often thought how important it is for a person to understand what to put in the center of their lives to be able to live it fully. I thought about how it has changed my life since I decided to accept Christ into my heart.

So many of us love Christ, but there are many interests, so many obstacles that prevent us from knowing and following. So love him, but as one of the many interests we have, or be excluded altogether from our lives, so we find it empty, without joy, without true peace.

Accepting Jesus means to put it in first place in our lives , that give our lives to Him When and if we do this, we can get to know him personally:
"To all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God" (John 1:12)

Pamplona: the joy outside

We are flying! Flying light on this path supported by a great enthusiasm. This enthusiasm attorney in all of us a deep joy. Joy to have reached Pamplona, the first of the big cities that meet along the Way. But I do not know about you, but I often wonder where it comes from the joy? What joy that lasts beyond the facts and then subject to change? How to keep it in your heart? Joy is not a dream, if you take it where it is given .

I realize that the experience I'm doing, like many others I have done in my life, I experience joy "external" , that is from outside. Joy is always good when it is a welcome gift that makes light everything else around us. But this joy, linked to the material which is consumed at the time that passes, or to people that change is destined to disappear sooner or later. In my heart this is a joy that makes you want another one, which comes from another source, the interior.

I remember, years ago, that I did not know I could be forgiven and thus restore harmony with myself, with others and with God, Jesus accomplishes this miracle forgiveness! With his forgiveness has begun to give me hope for a more intimate joy, deeper, never even dreamed of! 's the only presence in my heart, that makes me enjoy and understand this inner joy.

for me When I do not try anything when I offer myself to love, then I reach the fullness of God who is Love (gift of self) .

A Pamplona outward joy, enthusiasm of the beginning of the Way: a Santiago true joy, the deeper and more intimate.

Zubiri: witness

When the Church receives a person in search of God, presents first a written, even the Bible. The person is accepted into a community, a parish, in a group of people who testify to a God present in their lives. The Christian God is not primarily a book of God, but of the living God of the Bible contains the testimony. Through various faces of men, God manifests , little by little, step by step.

are only three days' journey, but I seem to always be there. The most surprising thing is how easy it is relations with all the people you meet . Turn down the defenses of hearts, indifference, distrust, they speak with the pilgrims than it is good to live in harmony with all. Living this harmony with others, we rediscover plan plan to live fully with yourself and with nature around you. The all be there on the Way, somehow unites us, makes us all "on the same frequency" . It is not just a simple greeting that is exchanged, but something deeper. The meet, to share the reasons for the journey, the struggles, the joy of discovery, ask "how are you" .

experience that lets you see how nice it would a world where "all are one" (Jn 17:21) .

An 'ode to Roncevaux

A small parenthesis meditations on the French contribution to this grant by the Noémi our friend.
Reading the comments of our trip, it occurred to a small piece of a poem about Roncevaux you learned at school ( long time ago!) . Author of the poem is the poet Alfred de Vigny , who lived in a village in the Pyrenees, near Roncevaux. He was a military and bored with army life had dabbled in writing. Given the unexpected success has since left the army to become Scrittori a tempo pieno.
Ecco la versione in inglese e poi original segue the tradotta versione in italiano. Buona lettura.

I Cor

I like the sound of the horn at night in the woods,
Whether he sings the crying the deer at bay,
Or the hunter's farewell as weak echo welcomes
And the north wind is from leaf to leaf.

How often alone in the dark at midnight remained,
I smiled to hear him, and cried more often!
Cause I'm hear these sounds prophetic
before death ancient Paladins

O mountains of blue! O beloved country!
Rocks the Frazona, circus Marboré,
Cascades fall of snow drift,
Sources, mountain streams, brooks, streams of the Pyrenees;

Mountains frozen and flowery throne two seasons,
Whose forehead is ice and the foot of grass!
This is where we sit, that is to be understood
the air horn of a distant melancholy and tender.

Often a traveler, when the air is quiet,
This brazen voice sounds the night
A rhythmic chants around him mingles
The harmonious rattle the young lamb that bleats.

A doe
attentive, instead of hiding,
Hangs motionless at the top of the rock,
And the cascade unit, in a huge drop,
His eternal complaint song of romance

Souls knights, you still come back?
Is it you who speak with the voice of the body Roncesvalles! Roncesvalles! In your dark valley
The shadow of the great Roland is not comforted!

THE HORN

Why Are Boobs So Pleasing

Roncesvalles: patience

One of the first signs of real progress is certainly spiritual, calm, patience . As in the Way of Saint James, in fact, we must learn to be patient. Do not think about how far away is the goal, if ever I'll make it and all the other thoughts that can hamper the way and undermine the will. " Quiet, take the time needed" . This reflects a little 'patience that God has for each of us: as if God's primary concern was "not that I do his knowledge , but I do knowledge of myself. Know in depth with my light and my shadow, with my desires and my limits and where the end of this investigation I discover him, the God of life, the God who gives life to my taste. During the Camino de Santiago I discovered that you have much time to do this work of meditation.

this folder to each pilgrim discouragement sounds like an impossible goal to reach. I also remember the beginning of my journey of faith of those cartels try to discourage both outside and inside of me. In my heart I felt each fall: "You're not worthy, I do not see how you are a sinner, because you are weak" . How many friends I had been persuaded to desist in this search: "the Church priests .... ... But you're the one who ..."

After the decision to leave immediately following the decision to continue . despite the difficulties and falls. Try to begin to think, think and make decisions depending on the destination: Santiago for this Way and the Way of Christ for life.

Reverse Ammortization

St. Jean Pied de Port: The decision to leave

One of the great moments of a journey, is that of Santiago, is one of faith surely the decision to leave . Looking back toward the past, and understand that " at the moment" have precise started to get up and walk. "That moment" may be a religious experience for each of us stronger, something happened that marked our lives, a moral injury, a personal drama, testimony, or a mere curiosity.

The pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, was for me, a missing link to a journey that had begun twenty years ago, when during a football game with my dying friend, Ezio. This tragedy upsets the balance of all that I set in my life.

We can say that my mood could be summarized in a song that perhaps many of you know: One day you think you are Edoardo Bennato

One day you think you are right
and being a great man
you wake up in another
and you have to start from scratch.
situations that are repeated wearily

timeless music for a few friends,
as three years ago.
At this point you have to leave
here the struggle is harder but you
if you take a thrashing
insist more.
're stubborn, that's for sure,
then you can still save
put all the strength you have in your
fragile nerves.
When you get up and you feel destroyed
made under and meets your day
not retrace your steps
usually enough for a moment.
While you're in the absurd person
and you see already old and dilapidated
tell all the people
your fake accident.

God that day, I reached , like Christ, when he walked next to the disciples of Emmaus incognito. The Lord has not told me his name, only accompanied me in my research, I helped deepen the last questions, those that can not be answered. It helped me to broaden the horizon of my life, taught me to trust myself, openness towards others, how to deal with life's problems and how to live well on this forgiving wrongs.
And now here I am, starting the Camino de Santiago, a journey can still amaze me and make my heart happy and my life.

Santiago: a way of life, a journey of faith

The Road to Santiago as the journey of our life ... as the journey of faith each of us.
I heard about it before you leave, I have often pondered this thought while I walk looking for and finding many similarities. Now at home, after just over a month since our return I would like to retrace the steps trying to highlight those aspects that slowly make me aware of the grace that is received by this pilgrimage, and that turns you into the heart.
Fragments, splinters, crumbs of meditations which I wish to share with you.
What he told me the Way.

All Tech Deck Tricks On A List

Feasibility of

Among the many positive aspects of the Camino de Santiago is that of " be feasible, even by" normal people "and especially not particularly trained.
This statement is not synonymous with "start without any training," but simply want to stress that any person with a minimum of physical training, documentation "on board", a strong will to reach a degree of adaptability to situations and can walk the Camino de Santiago personally experiencing the emotions that come by the Way.
Raffaele I state that neither I nor engage in any exercise schedule. Assuming that walking is a natural activity, and thus not innate human need, we gain a great technical ability but just a little wake up 'the muscles relaxed by too many office hours and sedentary lifestyle. Raffaele being able to do, he started its preparation by going regularly to work on foot (he lives about 2 km from the workplace).
I started to walk more steadily (train seems too difficult a word) about five months before departure. I immediately started with the new boots to "adapt" good foot by walking about 4 to 6 km (about 1h 1h ÷ ½) once or twice a week. Beginning on flat and hilly route later on. Later I began to lengthen the path reaching walks of 10 to 12 km. Over the past two months I started to carry a backpack with top a load of 3 to 4 kg and grow until you reach a weight about equal to that for the Road (about 10 kg). In this last period we had three or four outputs with simulating a stage of the media path as the path length (about 20 to 25 km) and height differences of about 300 m. We also hiked in the mountains with the weight of the backpack type Camino (10 kg) and height difference of about 1000 m.

Since the end result I think we made the preparation was good. After the first day of "acclimatization" to the new way of life and the weight of the backpack, I would say that both the physical and the mind are found at ease in the new situation and brought us together to achieve the objective that we set. We had some days where you felt that his legs "turned" without apparent effort and you could walk for hours, I felt that all physical, mind and environment was in perfect harmony and walk there in that place along with Raphael, and all other pilgrims, seemed the most logical and most natural.
There were also moments with the difficulties which have known physical disorders (muscle pain, foot problems, pain in the ligament) problems of heat, especially anxiety problems in the longest stage in which the end point of stage never came or you saw it at the last moment.

Summary On Spells And Sleeping Bags

Way Backpack Maurizio

Before or after each pilgrim raises the big question: what port and how to weigh the backpack?

The answer is simple: as little as possible, having brought the essential, that is what you really will.
Here opens a world of possibilities and discussions. The material that you have to put in your backpack is always dependent on a single pilgrim, its ability to adapt, its tolerance to unexpected situations, from his fear of forgetting something essential, not by his fears of what this can do without that.
There is no perfect list which is suitable for all pilgrims. The advice I can give you my list of material with relative weights (in grams) and tell you all that I brought and I used that in a possible upcoming pilgrimage, in the same season, I do not know what to remove if not of the small details.

period in which there was the pilgrimage from 30 August to 1 October 2010.
In the two columns that I have seen the clothes you wear and the material along the way and therefore do not weigh on his shoulders, and these weights have them deducted from the totals.

certainly left home the vocabulary, I used only 1 time.

The bottle is not needed, 2 or 3 bottles are sufficient plastic half-liter, are more practical, the weight is distributed better, you can keep more on hand in the pockets of external mesh backpack (important detail because you can stand without taking the backpack from his shoulders). There are many fountains of water supplies, apart from some stage on Mesetas. Do not forget to keep the water on the right side of the backpack, because walking west with the sun beats down almost always on the left side and the water is cooler. With my backpack that I used the material (45 L + 10) was almost as large, the extension clearly have never used.
as a pillow to sleep, I prepared a light and small zippered pillowcase and I brought a piece of foam (one week after I threw it away) and then I thought to fill it with clothing appropriate for the night. In almost all Albergue there are pillows and pillow alone is enough (unless you have to sleep on the mat on the floor due to overcrowding).
I used as a cleaning agent for virtually all cleaning Soap Marseille, like bubble bath, shampoo how to shave and laundry. I found myself very well and the weight is greatly reduced.
A very interesting and relevant article on the topic I found on the internet: I wanted to share it with you. Click here.

Stomach Dropping During Pregnancy

protect our feet

The first attention should be given at the foot surely, our means of locomotion.

The first choice is the type of shoe to wear. along the "Way" I saw people walking with all types of footwear. The only type of pilgrim who have not seen it barefoot pilgrims. The choice is very personal and subjective. I have always walked with the light trekking s carponcini because I feel more safe and secure with the ankle firmly. My choice fell on the shoes with shock-absorbing system, which did breathe a little 'feet, strong and light enough.
I've bought a few months before the scheduled departure time and I have well-established with then the type of socks that I used for the journey. I was advised by my friend Pauline, whom I thank for his excellent advice, to anoint his feet in the evening and the morning before walking. I I used a mixture of lavender foot cream (pleasant aroma) and vaseline cream (nice greasy). I started this treatment when I was training at home and then I continued every day throughout the journey.
Before leaving I was a pedicure for me to fix some small nails and calluses. The result of this combination of treatments has been nothing short of amazing: absolutely no problem with blisters despite the eight hundred and passes mileage!

If you do not start saving on equipment from shoes that are good and comfortable, your feet will thank you and give you endless satisfaction lead to where you want it! My feet have done precisely that, if I was a bit 'less' gummed his back "I would have kissed (after being well washed of course) .

Throughout the walk we saw standing by to shudder, blisters and sores from fear and "walk" that made you understand how pilgrim that he was suffering for his feet.

ll my friend Raffaele he walked with the shoes "tested in Verona." He had a small blister on the third day. On the fourth day, after dressing, she walked with sandals. Score another blister on the same foot in a different location. After being persuaded to return to walking with the boots has anointed my feet with Vaseline in the morning even before you start walking (he anointed his feet only at night) . Score: blisters healed by the two came to Santiago without any other problem.

You spend rivers of words and articles on how to treat blisters while we never hear about how to prevent : Make the most of this advice by anointing his feet with Vaseline ointment. This has been our personal experience, then everyone will believe what they see fit.

30 O Pedrouzo - Santiago de Compostela

29/09/2010
¡Hola!

overflowing with joy at the edge of excitement we announce that we have arrived at Santiago de Compostela !
Emotions in not end in a crescendo by the Monte do Gozo beginning to be felt. From there ', in fact the first big thrill to see from afar the peaks of the Cathedral. Then gradually, meter by meter, the entrance to the city 'with a beautiful monument that remembers all the historical figures who came as pilgrims to Santiago.

Then the arrival in the square, and emotion that is' mixed with the rain began to fall. I saw the red eyes of all. Then a big hug with Mauritius also congratulate the company.

We stayed there ', sitting in the square in front of the Cathedral to observe the other pilgrims, let ourselves be carried away by the mind to the memories of this adventure, remember all the people who are entrusted to our prayers. I do not know how much time has passed, but it 's been a bit of eternity' savored in silence.

Then off to the "Oficina the Pelegrino" to withdraw his Compostela, the documents certifying the pilgrimage took place.

A hot shower and again we ran to the Cathedral: the statue, crypt and the tomb of St. James, the "Bota Fumero, the altar, and the Gate of Glory, and unfortunately that 'being restored. A succession of beauty and excitement at seeing all these things imagine all the Way. For a virtual tour try here.

I also had time to confess and I have entrusted to the father confessor, all your names checked on the "Your Compostela" brought from Verona. E 'was surprised and touched to see this initiative and and' Promoter in fact present to management.

due to bad weather images of the Cathedral and the square are postponed to tomorrow and hope for a better time. Now we must look for a place open to eat something, 'cause in Santiago, known of our arrival they decided to do a general strike.

you tomorrow and a hug to everyone. Ultreya!

Here, here. Finally the long awaited day: on the eve of our arrival. We've dreamed of since the beginning of our trip cut short when a road sign any hope at all pilgrims Santiago 790. I remember it still, Roncisvalles. Li 'I remember perfectly well that I thought: "But when and if I will get there'?"

Instead, today we have come to Pedrouso O, is slightly less than 20 km from Santiago. The stage of today 'was short but with the usual up and down which made it even heavier our steps. Still in the midst of magnificent forests of eucalyptus that is cast skyward perfuming our paths. We were told how and 'magic Galicia, but I can confirm that it and' even more 'than you can imagine.

moods within us that are alternated to make happy this time of waiting: for the eve of emotion that blends with a little 'satisfaction to be got here, memories of each stage color and life by taking all the people we met, the wonderful landscapes that have rewarded the labors of each day, moments of solitude and prayer that filled our hearts with spiritual value of the pilgrimage.

Tonight and 'the evening before, expectations, where around a table with Maurice and Fred we will remember all this. Clearly, all imbued with a good wine and dishes.

Then before falling asleep, there will be all of you in our hearts that have accompanied us on this journey.

27/09/2010
Santiago 2 days!
¡Hola! Great enthusiasm today when we passed the stones entering the last province of the Way, A Coruña , and that of the last 50 km. to Melide. This picturesque town is' very famous not only for this dish for the galieco: spicy octopus (Octopus Galiega). We, we had already 'abundant experience yesterday in Palas de Rei. We also discovered another dish: "the eplanada de athun" (a cake of bread with tuna) . But never mind the culinary aspect and pass to the description of today's stage.

path this morning, and 'was great as well characterized that the up and down, from the natural landscape that has enchanted forest of eucalyptus trees, streams, ponticcioli ... Galicia offers short, what better to the pilgrim. We also collected some copper eucalyptus to be included in the knapsack of course overlook the grounds.

Today we did a nice knowledge of the Way: Thomas, a young Polish priest, who started from Lourdes on September 3 last year. We shared with him a little way to Melide to the goal of today: Arzua .
Sport, mountain lover, very nice, told us of his experiences and the Way of his life. Very nice to hear speak with his accent remember our beloved Pope John Paul II.

Maureen and I have also made a finding as was 'much more' serene without listening to the news. We discovered during the walk as there were missing. Not feel the need 'to know, I asked only a few days ago the situation of Chilean miners closed for over two months in a mine. The news of every day carries only lies, and negativity inquitudine '. The Way we were a bit 'detoxified.

Guys, here we come! 2 more days and we will be in Santiago. We can not believe. Help you with your comments. Let me hear.

Western Invitations Phrases

Portomarín 27 - Palas de Rei 26

26/09/2010
Santiago -3 days!
Welcome back everyone and happy Sunday!
first I wanted to tell you that I'm praying a lot for all of you and your intentions, there are occasions, in fact, to offer the hard work and climb, especially in today's stage. A constant up and down, even more 'salts that come down, so it' s true that about 25 km. stage 20 were uphill.

Through a multitude of small villages in the mountains today, the stage has led us to Palas de Rei , a small village about 700 meters above sea level. All villages character of farming and agriculture. We could see the famous "horreos" (silos), but already 'yesterday, we had had a small advance. The local farmers introduced these items needed for the conservation of grains making them a local feature. The room, which houses the cob and rodents dall'aumidita ', based on projections and e' aired by "pasaventos" (channels). Then normally installed on the roof of the Baroque embellishments or crosses.

This morning at dawn, we were able to enjoy a performance that recalled the landscapes of the north, Irish and English. To welcome this morning the full moon and a light fog that covered the hollows of the mountains. The pale light of the moon a light filled the background putting in contrast trees blacks. All shades ranging from black to light gray, deep blue to dark blue, making clear what we saw a picture painted with the delicate glow of the moon lit up the fog. Of course I could not photograph them for the lack of light, but the memory of these landscapes will take him forever in our memory.

today for us and 'the last Sunday of the Way in Spain. Now the goal and 'very close and the excitement continues to grow. We have received mixed reactions: there are notri friends that have accelerated to reach one day before and others that would slow down to take the most 'can this emotion inside himself'.
sharing all this seems impossible to us is past already 'almost a month. The memory of the preceding stages, and 'still very much alive: Roncisvalles mountains, valleys and forests of Navarra , the picturesque villages of the Rioja , the endless plains of Mesetas , the visits of the city' of Castilla y Leon , the mountains green and wet the Galicia, overnight stays in the Albergue and how many times we thought before falling asleep, how many miles were missing in Santiago.

Sarria - Portomarín

25/09/2010
Santiago 4 days!

Galicia today and it 'moved. A dense but light rain has made this outline stage. The proximity of Santiago feels the atmosphere. There is a succession of small villages in the woods took us to the famous stone of 100 km. in Santiago.

few days ago I said that now all downhill towards the goal, but today I realized that it was just a metaphor. A series of up and down their legs cut off to the many pilgrims, especially those who already have the legs' 700 km. like us. But nothing remains to show that we have seen today: the stage and you ' turning paths for good, sometimes very muddy, down strong, gentle slopes ... In addition, we crossed the train tracks unattended, several streams, beautiful landscapes, bridges, particularly that of the basin Belesar .

This bridge led to the goal of our today's stage: Portomarin . In the mountains? It 'just so'. Do you think the old country and its remnants remain under the waters of this reservoir, after the construction of a dam. The new Portomarin located about 200 meters' high.

Today we realized how increased pilgrims. From Sarria In fact, many of them start to make the last 100 km. that 'their chance' arrival in Santiago de Compostela receive the : the document that certifies personal pilgrimage. New faces along the way make us feel that the intimacy 'that we had to walk up here and' over. In fact we were able to enjoy little moments of absolute silence as we happened almost daily before.

From a survey carried out so far from us, greeting the more 'common among pilgrims' "¡Hola!" and "Buen Camino" then follows "Buenas Dias". The famous greeting "Ultreya" not and 'very widely used. In fact I am using it only me and only two girls from Corsica and Laura, an Italian girl, answered correctly "Suseya.
Do you think I said goodbye to two English boys with this greeting, but they stopped and asked me: "What did you say?" And I try to explain in English that was not a bad word but a "old" greet the pilgrims along the Way. That figure .... But their '.

Fonfría 25 - Sarria

24/09/2010
¡Hola!
The Galicia today and 'moved to our arrival. All the stage under his "tears" and many clouds. Too bad, the scenery was wonderful in the woods and views mozzafiato.Tutta in one breath, with only a quick stop at Tricastela for breakfast.
The few pictures I managed to take hope to be able perceive the environment in which we were immersed in the silence over 'total with nature and only the sound of rain accompanied our steps.

Every now and then to stop the "too much" silence screamed and sang for to "mind" in Mauritius, which unabashedly kept walking with his head down. And the more 'singing and more' hurried away from me. At some point we have reached the English boys who asked us who was shouting "Santiago" in the woods.

I think we arrived in Sarria in record time: never we did so an average 'high.
Ah ... Sorry, you do not know Sarria? It 's the cittdadina famous for its hams. We had a glimpse at a little place in Pamplona, remember? Well, now the wait to get here and do it again and 'arrived. At about 14 we entered a typical little place and we ordered ..... "Pulpo a la Galliega" (Galician Octopus). And what does the ham will tell you. Wait until tonight.

Good Way.
