Here is a beautiful explanation of how and why it is important and fun to share the joy of cooking with kids, not only during moments of relaxation, but in everyday food preparation. This introduction was taken from the book hands in the pie. When the cook is the child (Happy Kids)
:
Cooking is not just a fun game and can play an important role development and overall growth of the child. Cooking helps develop sensory, motor and socio-emotional children. The children are encouraged to recognize and use all five senses, they discover their abilities and preferences, expanding their skills and gain more confidence and self-confidence.
In the kitchen, the children are protected atmosphere, intimate and warm, which makes all sorts of confidences, a privileged place to leave the love and emotions. But the "game of cooking" is still more: it can get to stimulate aspects of growth that would seem at first sight very distant from the kitchen, like language (with the reading and understanding of the recipe), the artistic perception (use of forms and colors), mathematics (in the doses, weights and measures), science (cooking and natural cycles), sociology (me and others or the idea of \u200b\u200bworking together) and even the geography (from food).
